How to Build Your Own Laptop

When you Build Your Own Laptop, there are many items you need to take into account.

In addition to the concerns of performance and spending budget that you have with a desktop computer, there are other elements to consider:

1) Unit-specific characteristics
2) Size and portability
3) Battery life

These three added factors can make it complicated to find the best customized laptop suited perfectly for you. Because there is less opportunity to add to or modify a laptop / notebook computer, you first need to think about all the ports you'll be requiring (ie, firewire, USB, sound and video). If a laptop doesn't have all the ports you need, you shouldn't look at it! Once you've worked that out, you have to question yourself whether or not the laptop is expected to be extremely portable, or if it is designed to be at a desk more often than not. Don't forget that a larger display and better performance components mean lowered battery life.

For common workplace programs, you can effortlessly get away with a lower performance laptop, with which you will have excellent portability and long battery life. For more rigorous jobs including video editing, rendering, or gaming, you will need a much more high performance laptop, which will be larger, heavier, and will have a shorter battery life.
